As grower and wine producer, Analemma's primary goal is to produce fruit of individuality that reflects the place in which it is grown. They place priority on soil and plant health by utilizing matured compost and beneficial sprays of nettle, seaweed and ground silica to boost the plants’ immune system. Their vineyards are farmed using organic practices and they are beginning to implement sustainable farming methods in our cherry orchards. We are experimenting with integrative activities that add personality and function to the farm. What is the Analemma? The analemma is a figure 8 shape of the Sun’s annual migratory path between the northern and southern hemispheres as seen from the Earth. This pattern is caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis and is a visual cue of the Sun’s movement through the calendar year. What it represents to them: The ribbon-like figure of the analemma is similar to the symbol of infinity. They draw inspiration from this image of “boundlessness” or “beyond calculation.” So much of what they enjoy as humans cannot be summarized by science or measured by calculation. Joy, love, pleasure, and a smile are all examples of immeasurable essences that are meaningful aspects of everyday life. Their experience reveals that the pleasure derived from wine falls into this unquantifiable category.
